Birdie Paisley : Hand Printing
Birdie Paisley Print is a vintage big striking butta print combines two classic traditional south Indian style motifs that I love - the peacock and the paisley
Paisley is symbolic of abundance, fertility and bring new life. I am incredibly grateful to have exclusive access to this beautiful print, Lakshmi the founder of the studio and hand drew this in 1979.
The rich heritage of hand block printing has always been about a loving co-existence with the natural world. Blocks are carved in native teak wood, and nature is at the core of traditional prints.
It’s a four-part block and the artisans use sticks to keep a uniform distance between the motifs, just one of many ingenious traditionally used solutions passed down
It is one of the only Artisan Studio's in India to have ISO 26000 Gold Sustainability Standard for social & environmental impact and slated to be Carbon Neutral for internal processes in 2024.
